Carla Saunders is the founder of Promises Entertainment, LLC, and an independent filmmaker known for telling raw, urban, reality-based stories—often with horror and suspense at their core. Her filmmaking journey began in 2008 after working as an extra on Madea Goes to Jail, which sparked her passion for storytelling. Teaching herself through books and hands-on practice, she went on to write, fund, and release her debut feature No Reason, now streaming on Tubi and Amazon Prime. With a finalist short film (Fake News) headed to the East Point Peachtree International Film Festival and active enrollment in the Los Angeles Film School, Carla was ready for the next leap: recognition.
For years, Carla had been quietly building her portfolio and pushing boundaries in the indie film world, but her voice had yet to reach a broader audience. She wasn’t just looking for vanity press or temporary buzz. She needed real visibility: credibility in the entertainment industry, acknowledgment for her work as a Black woman in horror, and validation that would open doors to larger collaborations.
Despite her creative talent and compelling backstory, Carla’s work was getting lost in the noise. Competing with studios, influencers, and content factories meant her independent status was often overlooked. Carla needed a campaign that would honor her journey and establish her as a serious player in the urban horror and indie film space. She wanted media that respected her hustle and told her story with dignity.
MAXIMUM VISIBILITY
Pressiqa launched a targeted PR strategy that focused on building Carla’s media presence in niche entertainment circles and broader digital platforms.
We spotlighted Carla’s self-taught roots, her unique approach to horror storytelling, and her determination to break into film without traditional gatekeepers. Her rise from extra to director became the emotional arc of the campaign.
Through our media network, we placed Carla’s story on platforms that cater to independent creators, entertainment professionals, and culturally relevant voices. These placements focused on both her feature film and the buzz around her short film, Fake News.
We created compelling founder-driven press angles, showcasing Carla as a resilient, boundary-pushing filmmaker who brings real-life tension and grit to the horror genre.
Each story was distributed with branded social posters and digital assets to extend the campaign’s reach across her personal and professional channels.
Within a few short weeks, Carla’s profile saw exponential growth and elevated her presence among indie creators, film festival organizers, and digital audiences.
